Ramirez flipped switches as the chopper descended. "You go two o'clock when you get there. Alright?"

"Done."

The chopper landed with its nose at a forty-five degree angle to the right of the approaching vehicle. Ramirez launched a proximity missile then immediately started firing the machine cannon. Just as programmed, the missile flew half a foot above the ground and detonated inches in front of the car. The explosion flipped the car up so that it slid down the street on its back bumper, right into the hail of bullets fired by Ramirez. A second later the car was sliced in halves.

"Yeah!!" Ramirez shouted.

As the cycle squad approached the cross street, they saw the two pieces of car tumble through the intersection at seventy-five miles an hour, sparks and all.

"Damn, Ramirez," the point rider said.

"Watch out for debris," Buzz told them as he raised the chopper back up in the air and resumed his course towards their stranded comrades.

 

Flanagan was the first to leave the vehicle. When the door flew open smoke from the grenade poured out and the rookie leapt to the ground with his weapon poised to fire. In a flash Nevindoss grabbed Flanagan, flung him against the wall of a nearby building and slammed the door to the assault vehicle shut. The young officer pulled his gas mask off and
